Objective / Rules
- Complete the grid such that every row and column contains the numbers 1 to the size of the grid.
- The symbols on the grid are less-than and greater-than signs, which always point towards the smaller number.
e.g. 1 < 4, 3 < 5, 2 > 1.
Read the help page on Daily Futoshiki for the rules, a more detailed explanation, and a walkthrough.
Notes
Keyboard Options
- If you are using a device without a physical keyboard, the on-screen keyboard is numeric (0 = auto-pencil marks).
- 'use default' ➞ use the default, non-numeric keyboard (0 ≠ auto-pencil marks).
- 'disable 0' ➞ disable the 0 for auto-pencil marks.
- 'add / remove' ➞ add / remove characters, entering the same character again will remove it (by removing all duplicates and sorting).
Pencil Marks
- Pencil marks are squares with more than one digit / letter.
- Just like you might use if you were using pen and paper.
- A square might contain more pencil marks than can be seen.
Usage (if supported by your device)
- a or 0 ➞ auto-place pencil marks.
- CTRL + arrows ➞ move around the grid.
- SHIFT + # ➞ highlight all squares with that number as a pencilmark.
- SHIFT + 0 ➞ clear highlights.
- 'pencil' ➞ auto-place pencil marks.
- 'squares with' ➞ highlight all squares with that number as a pencil mark.
- Click a sign to change its colour, helping you to remember that you've dealt with it.
Checking
- The system automatically checks that the less-than and greater-than signs are being followed for single numbers.
- 'check' ➞ check for incorrect squares.
- 'show mistakes' ➞ highlight incorrect squares when the puzzle is checked.
- What is checked:
a single number that isn't the same as the answer,
multiple numbers that don't contain the answer number.
Uniqueness
- This puzzle has exactly one correct answer.
- No guesses are ever required.
- Double-check alternative answers carefully, and then recheck the rules.
