Hint
Look at the first and third columns first.
Answer
The missing sum is 40.
Circle = 12
Star = 3
Square = 7
Triangle = 9
Reasoning
Looking at Column 1 and Column 3 we have:
[1] Square + Star + Circle + Square = 29
[2] Square + Square + Triangle + Star = 26
If we subtract [1] – [2] we get:
[3] Circle – Triangle = 3
And Row 3 is:
[4] Circle + Circle + Triangle + Circle = 45
If we add [3] + [4] we get:
Circle + Circle + Circle + Circle = 48
So, Circle = 12.
Using [3] we find that Triangle = 9.
Using Column 2 we find that Star = 3.
Using Row 1 we find that Square = 7.
Double-Checking
The rows add to: 35 + 26 + 45 + 25 = 131.
The columns add to: 29 + 36 + 26 + 40 = 131.
The rows and columns must add to the same number, so this could have been used a shortcut to the missing sum.
In total, there are:
5 Squares = 5 x 7 = 35
5 Circles = 5 x 12 = 60
3 Stars = 3 x 3 = 9
3 Triangles = 3 x 9 = 27
Which is also a total of 131.
So all of the totals are the same, as expected.

Classical Collection - Logic Puzzles
In my collection of classical music, I have a range of pieces that last 6, 7, 8 and 9 minutes.
The piece by Bach lasts 8 minutes, and the CD lasts longer than the piece by Holst.
The piece on DAT tape is longer than the piece by Beethoven.
The single lasts 7 minutes, and the album does not contain any Holst.
The piece by Butler is on the DAT tape.
Can you determine which piece of music is in which format, and how long each lasts?

Hint
Look at the piece by Bach, and the single.
Answer
Composer Format Length
Beethoven album 6
Holst single 7
Bach CD 8
Butler DAT 9
Reasoning
By (1), the piece by Bach lasts 8 minutes. By (3), the single lasts 7 minutes.
Composer Format Length
6
single 7
Bach 8
9
By (4), the piece by Butler is on the DAT tape. But, by (2), this can't be the shortest, so it must be 9 minutes long.
Composer Format Length
6
single 7
Bach 8
Butler DAT 9
By (1), the CD can't be the shortest, so must be 8 minutes long.
Composer Format Length
6
single 7
Bach CD 8
Butler DAT 9
The album must therefore be 6 minutes long, and by (3) doesn't contain any Holst.
Composer Format Length
album 6
Holst single 7
Bach CD 8
Butler DAT 9
Which means that the album was the piece by Beethoven.
Composer Format Length
Beethoven album 6
Holst single 7
Bach CD 8
Butler DAT 9
Puzzle 112
There are three houses, and three utilities: water, gas, and electricity.
Your task is to connect each house to all three utilities.
Therefore, each house will have three lines, and each utility will also have three lines.
However, you cannot cross lines! You cannot pass lines through houses or utilities. You cannot share lines.

Answer
This puzzle is a classic one that has no solution in 2D.
However, if you place the items on a doughnut shape in 3D you can solve it.
In the picture below, the electricity is linked to House 3 by going over the top and re-entering through the hole in the middle.
