After a further 10 innings, his average had increased to 17 runs per innings.

What was his average for the last 10 innings?

Answer: 21 runs per innings.

In the first 20 innings the total runs was 20 x 15 = 300 runs.

After 30 innings the total runs was 30 x 17 = 510 runs = a difference of 210 runs.

Therefore the final 10 innings had an average of 210 ÷ 10 = 21. QED.
